Rapid Chess Tournament @ Vagdevi Vilas School, 11August 13

Top Seed Gavi Siddayya (1968) of Bangalore scored four and half points out of maximum possible 5 points and won the first prize in the monthly chess tournament organised by Karnataka School of Chess, Bangalore at Vagdevi Vilas School, Marathahalli, Bnagalore on 11th August 2013.

A total of 150  players from different parts of city participated in four categories namely, Open, Under 15, Under 12 and Under 9 age categories.  Gavi Siddayya (ELO Rating 1968) was top seed in open category followed by Aditya Chakravarty (1918) and Girish Bachikar (1783) and Narendran D (1600)

The tournament was conducted in swiss leage format. Players in Open and Under 15 category played five rounds each, Under 12 and Under 9 players played six round each.

Speaking on the prize distribution function, International Master Shivananda BS, Director, Karnataka school of chess explained how these monthly chess tournaments helps the younger players to demonstrate their skills and tactics which they learned and practiced. He also said that these tournaments motivates and gives confidence to the players to play in the Rated Chess tournaments. Mr Raghavendra V, founder Director of the Karnataka School of chess was also in dais to distribute the prizes.
